It seems to get a lot of comparisons to Maple Story, which I've also played for a decent length, but they're pretty different. So far I honestly like combat in MS better, but then again I like to be able to jump. In TO I feel like I just walk up to things and keep hitting until its dead. But that probably changes later.
I did the tutorial and some reading, but still feel pretty lost. I did at least consult forums for the initial ability spread, but I'm pretty unclear how I should be spending my ability points from leveling. Do I need a tight build, or can I both enhance my primary abilities and add to some I'm not as good in? With my Raccoon I was boosting both Charm and Power stuff, with a wee bit of Sense. I guess I need a comprehensive site like MS has to feel secure in my building, and it seems like most of the Trickster communities are pretty small. I'm also paranoid because of MS's unfogiving nature of anything but a rigid build.
When I started it up, my roomie saw and demanded to play too. But after tutorial, I got sent to Paradise and he got sent to Coral, so I don't know how we can meet up and play together ;_; The map page is nice (I like that it even shows monster locations) but I'm very confused about how big the world is as a whole and how it connects since it seems like a series of chunks of map. I can't really afford the Bunny Maid right now and don't want to end up the wrong place by accident.
I'm going to poke for some more sites and do more reading today.
Anyhow, I'm on Ruby Island.
My first character is a lvl 8-ish Raccoon, but I'm going to change him out so my friend can be him (will probably be Buffalo, Bunny, or Cat instead.) I almost always do melee-defense with my first character in a game to get the basic idea of how it works.
I also have a Sheep, Baakabits, and a Fox, Kitsu-ko, whom I made but havn't started with yet (probably will tonight.)
I'm kind of leery of starting the Fox right away, since the Sense type seems the strangest and least combat-able. I'm also less sure how to build it. They seem like they're the most about drilling and item stuff.
